Sussex Sea Pods

A Sussex Sea Pod is a purpose-designed artificial reef structure, carefully shaped to mimic natural forms found in the marine environment.

Built to sit securely on the local seabed, each pod creates shelter, surface area, and protection - the essential ingredients for marine life to return and thrive.

Think of it as a foundation stone for rebuilding an ecosystem.

Born from a lifetime spent on and under these waters, Sussex Sea Pods is a pioneering restoration project led by commercial diver Alan Minter. Inspired by nature and shaped by experience, these purpose-built reef structures are designed to bring life back to the seabed: Creating shelter, encouraging biodiversity, and helping marine ecosystems recover.

The first prototype, affectionately named The Minter Hotel, was placed on the seabed as a test.

Within days, it was alive.

Now, the mission is clear: scale this solution, restore our coastal waters, and build something that will last for generations.
